Even if you have the best job in the world (I do), that you are passionate about (I am) and couldn’t imagine doing anything else (I don’t), you still have days where the best bits about your job are overshadowed by the crappy parts. The overwhelming amounts of admin and emails that spawn more emails until you inbox is plagued with them, the demands of some people who seem to want more and more for less and less and the politics that sadly come with working in your chosen industry, whatever industry it is you work in!
So, after a week of crappiness, bureaucracy and frustrations, it was really nice to throw myself into a delicious wedding that I have spent the last month preparing and finalising. The gorgeous couple bought so much personalisation to their ceremony, new things too which I had never come across and I couldn’t wait for it all to come together. And I was not disappointed. It was a stunning ceremony, in a stunning setting full of emotion and love.
After the ceremony, just minutes before taking this photo of them, the groom took my hand and said,
Natasha, I know we will probably never see you again, but I know I will never ever forget you or the absolutely amazing ceremony that you did for us. I just cannot imagine a ceremony that could have been more perfect for us.
OMG. Heartmelt. Lump in throat. Tears stinging eyes. Nose burn. Big hug for him and her.
His beautiful gift of a comment reminded me very much of one of my favourite Maya Angelou quotes.
I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.
So if I have to have a dash of crappiness here and there and a peppering of frustrations now and again, I will gladly accept it all, if it means I get to honestly make a difference to how people feel.
